Downtown core closing to vehicles

Wow, big changes are afloat (to say the least). The City of Leavenworth is closing the downtown core to vehicle traffic to make room for pedestrians to socially distance and for businesses to spill out onto the sidewalks.

What does this mean for Art in the Park? That’s an excellent question and one to which I don’t currently have an answer. I’ve submitted a Special Use Permit to the City to request Front Street access for set-up and take-down. As you can imagine, both the City Government and the Chamber of Commerce are scrambling to make the necessary changes to make this work and no doubt every business in town is calling or emailing them with questions. I’ll continue posting as I have information to share. In the meantime, here’s the letter from Mayor Florea that includes his thoughts on the plan as well as the reasons behind it.
